Bitter Melon

That's what I cook tonight. I slice the bitter melon and sauteed it with garlic, onion, chicken, alamang (uyap) and put two eggs on it. It was really good.

Bitter Melon is also a herb that helps regulate blood sugar levels and keeps body functions operating normally. People who have diabetes should eat bitter melon as it contains Gurmarin, a polypeptide considered to be similar to bovine insulin, which has been shown in experimental studies to achieve a positive sugar regulating effect by suppressing the neural response to sweet taste stimuli.

  1. I still don't know what is bitter melon. Is that the same as ampalaya? I miss eating ampalaya with eggs and tomatoes. Yummy!
