Muscle Weigh More Than Fats Myths

As we got home yesterday, the first thing that I caught my eyes as we were in the kitchen is our weighing scale that put on the way going to the game room. I weigh myself as soon as I saw the scale because we were away from the house since Sat until Sun. I was so shocked when I saw my weight and I can't accept it so I tried it 3 times and then tried it again when my mother in law left the house. As in I tried it with no belt, no jeans that kind of stuff you know, and yet the result where just few .03 deducted from the first three... waaaaaaaaa I can't believe I weigh that much and I can't accept it....

I told hubby about it and he told me that since I start exercising, I should expect to weigh more at first as he said... the muscle weigh more than fats... doesn't make sense huh... I can't stop thinking what he said so I really made a research online and it says.... The 5 lbs. of fat is much bulkier than the 5 lbs. of muscle, but five pounds is still five pounds. Muscle does not weigh more than fat.

Fat is bulky and lumpy so if you carry an extra five pounds of fat, you'll be lumpier than with five pounds more muscle. A five pound pile of fat will take up more space (volume) than a five pound pile of muscle; but five pounds is still five pounds, so for those of you that don't "get" English, you cannot say one thing weighing a certain weight weighs more than another thing at that same weight. It's a common joke to play on an 8-year old. The correct way to state the muscle weighs more than fat scenario is, "Muscle is heavier by volume than fat."
